Materials most frequently used for wire cloths

Steel

Carbon steel is a good material for the production of wire cloths as far as its price is concerned. Used for galvanized or tinned wire cloths. It is not corrosion-resistant.

Spring steel

The durability of this steel is enhanced thanks to manganese particles and a high content of carbon. The spring steel can be made resistant to abrasion.

Stainless steel

Stainless wires are a common material used for wire cloths. This is due to the fact that stainless steel can have a variety of different alloys. We are constantly using materials no. AISI 304 and AISI 316. If need be, we can enhance these materials with titanium and niobium. They are low in carbon, thus they can be used for specialist purposes.

Heat-resistant steel

This type of steel is used at high temperatures ranging from 600oC up to 1200oC. It is resistant to the impact of air and certain gases. It should be noted that particles containing sulphur, steam and water are given off at high temperatures. That is why customers are kindly asked to specify what they are going to use the nettings for at high temperatures.

Copper

One of its characteristics is a good or even very good thermal and electrical conduction.

Brass

An alloy of copper and zinc. Mostly used as MS63 and MS80/20. MS 63 might become more susceptible to corrosion if the material is exposed to air.

Tin-bronze

An alloy of copper and zinc, also known as phosphor bronze. It is a durable alloy.

Nickel

A frequently used material. Resistant to acid and alcaline medium.

Monel

An alloy of nickel (around 65%) and copper (around 35%) with the addition of steel, manganese and carbon. The alloys under the names of Nicorros and Silverin are produced in Germany. They are resistant to acid, alkaloids and sea water.

Aluminium

It is made of various alloys, especially AlMg3 and AlMg5. One can also make technical aluminium, however, due to insufficient hardness, only in fixed dimension.

Materials used for the production of wire cloths

1) Values of the basic materials are adjusted through special treatment during the weaving and drawing processes. The values given are connected to the diameters of wires. The table of materials used for the production of wire cloths has been prepared in cooperation with our suppliers. We have put all our effort for the information presented in the table to be correct and no claims against us can be made in connection with this table. Particular alloys have been chosen as examples; other types are also possible.
